Replaced stub axle but now wheel is loose (has too much play)

    Hey guys,

On my 4x4 Slash I broke the stub axle on the front left. Instead of purchasing a new one, I replaced it with a stub axle that used to be on the rear of this same Slash. Now the wheel has considerably more play in it when you hold and jiggle it. Here is my question, is there any difference in size between a rear stub axle vs a front stub axle?

    Thanks so much!

Yes there is a difference. The rear stub is longer, that's why you are getting the play. You need a 6854x. Rears are 6853x.

I appreciate all the helpful feedback and answers. That does help. My LHS apparently doesn't carry the stub axle for the front drive shaft. They carry the whole drive shaft. Would it be better to replace the whole assembly or just the stub axle that's broken? I'm assuming that I would have to order the stub axle online if I just replace that part.

If your lhs has the whole thing, I would buy it. You can never have too many spare parts.
