Question about batteries from a newbie

I just got my first Traxxas truck, Slash 2WD. Been wanting one for years and finally decided to pull the trigger on one. It came with a NiMH battery. Can I charge it and have it sit ready to run or should I only charge the battery before I go run the truck?

Fully charged. I charge up my nimh receiver batteries after every run. Top them off or cycle them over the winter. 3+ years strong so far.

Ok, cool. I got the truck delivered to my house last Wednesday, charged the battery on Saturday thinking I would have a chance to run the truck, and haven't been able to run the truck since I unplugged the charger. Been almost a week now and didn't want to ruin the battery.

I would also recommend topping off the battery before you use it, because Ni-Mh cells do self discharge over time. So before you do actually run it, just pop it on the charger to top it off and have at it.
