Does anyone know if the velineon motor is roar approved? My LHS has a stock 2wd sct class so I'm guessing I should be able to run it at least in that. If anyone has more information about this, that would be great. I'm new to the rc racing scene and want to be somewhat informed so I don't go on race night and have to turn around and go back home.

From what I’ve see the stock 2wd Slash class is using the brushed motor not the brushless motor.

Confirm with your LHS about the stock class. Chopperguy is correct on stock being the brushed 12T Titan motor

That is normal for the novice classes I have seen.
Also, because novice classes run RTR electronics, they normally do not fall into ROAR rules, and have their own rule set dictated by the race organizers. Two big reasons for this is that you can't check timing on RTR motors, and no RTR ESC has blinky mode.

Thanks for the info everyone. It's greatly appreciated. Going to race for the first time this weekend. Wish me luck!

I've run stock Slash class in Savannah.
The rules there are....
1. Brushed Slash (XL5 esc, 12T Titan motor)
2. only gears that come in the box are allowed
3. aluminum shock caps allowed
4. any 2.2/3.0 SCT tires
5. any SCT body (fenders must cover wheels when looking from above)
This has nothing to do with ROAR. It is just the race track's rules.
