Carpet racing on 1/10 buggy tires

On tuesday I raced my son's slash for the second time. Previously I had raced a hot trick Ultima in the early 90's. Right now the slash is mainly stock, but I did put green springs on back and set the lower shock mounts to there lowest settings. I have not put al lcg chassis on yet. What I did do was put proline pin spike tires on buggy wheels all around while changing the gearing to the faster set itcame with. The tires are almost an inch shorter. I was able to win the B-main in novice class and did alright in the a, but got bumped around a bit and that cost me time.
Anyone else ever run the short tires?

Something else, the smaller tires weigh 58 grams and the stock are 112. That's a big difference. Smaller and lighter accelerates faster, doesn't bounce as easily and it took nearly half a pound off the truck. 7.6 oz

I guess if it's legal to run on the wrong tires and you're faster, keep doing it
