Original Revo 2.5 vs Revo 3.3

I recently purchased a used original revo 2.5r. I am wondering besides chassis, electronics, body, engine, exost, and tires how is it different from a new revo 3.3? Also I'm considering replacing the trx2.5r with a trx3.3. Can the drive-train handle it?

I would assume I could then run a trx3.3 in it without problems.

No drive train changes from the 2.5 to the 3.3. 3.3 was designed to be a direct drop-in and use all the 2.5 external parts.

They've gone through many small electronic changes over the years. You've mentioned the ones between the 2.5 short chassis and the current 3.3 chassis.

One more question. My ez start says 2.5 on it. Will it still work with a 3.3?

Does anyone know when Traxxas quit producing the original revo 2.5? I would guess 07 or 08 but I can't find any real info on this.

2006 with the 5309 Revo. The 1st-gen Slayer came with the 2.5 Revo chassis until the Slayer Pro came out.
