    Best 48p Spur Gear?

Iím looking to switch back to 48p from 32p, for a variety of reasons and Iím wondering if anyone makes a better spur than stockers. I found the stock ones are too often not completely round. This would be an easy choice if I had a variety of steel pinions, but I donít. What I have got in 48p is every pinion from 13 to about 50, in aluminum.

So whatís gonna fit under that gear cover and not chew up aluminum?

Just remember that when you strengthen one part and not all the others that the weak point moves along the drivetrain to a different part, being the transmission. Even though the plastic spur gears may not be the best, they are a good form of cheap insurance. If you feel that you really need to upgrade, look into Robinson Racing hardened steel spur and pinion gears. But as I said, you will just move the weak point further down the line should you have an issue.

Thanks. I definitely want to stay away from steel, given my massive collection of 48p alloy pinions. Maybe I’ll look into the topshaft/slipper conversion.
