Question Which KV motor should I get for Rock Crawling?

I have decided to get a TEKIN roc 412HD motor for my TRX6, there are 5 options with different KVs:4200Kv, 3100Kv, 2300Kv, 1800Kv, and 1200Kv. I'm not sure which one to get, I know the higher the KV, the more rotations there are, but the tradeoff is less torque. I'm using this for crawling. Can I get some suggestions of which one to get?

I'd go with 1800 or 2300. What ESC are you going to run?

Ok, not sure what the limitations are on that ESC, but John Holmes has always said to "Volt up, gear down".

So I would say maybe go a bit faster than you think you might need, and you can always gear down a bit.

If it's any help, I've ran a 2850kv slate in my Bronco on 4s. It was just as controllable as on 2s, but with lots of top end to screw around with!

I run a 1900kv in my TRX4 and Bomber on 3S, it has lots of smooth power throughout the power band.

Hi Greatscott, What is the top speed of your TRX4 with the 1900 KV motor on high gear?
    Thanks.

You can gear the lower KV motor up, so depending on what spur/pinion and voltage he is using, top speed will vary.
