Anyone know if the Traxxas 6700mAh 4s battery pack thats used in the Xmaxx will fit in the Maxx? Or is the pack too long?

They should fit cause it's really 1/8 size
The Traxxas page for the Maxx lists the battery tray dimension, I believe
I can't believe traxxas makes the truck run on 4s but there battery doesn't fit the truck.
I heard there making smaller battery packs did anyone else hear this.im going to run my truck on 3s for now when I get it
There is a Traxxas 4s 5000mAh battery pack available now - looks like this one is smaller so will fit.

The battery tray size is kind of a bummer. The width is the problem. After doing about a 15 minute search, I couldn't find a single hard case 4s battery that is under 45mm in width. I have a 3 SMC 6700mah 4s that I run in 3 different trucks that are too big. Sure seems traxxas really wants you to run their batteries.

Maybe you can turn this one sideways and secure a strap in place of the stock bracket? You may need to dremel some material away on the side where the leads need clearance.

I was looking at a picture of the chassis, from the one picture it looks like you might be able to dremel that thin wall out and get the necessary mm before you would hit the center of the chassis. Realistically if you are willing to hack up a chassis you could resolve it. I wouldn't have a problem with it, not sure how many people feel the same.

I was going to buy one, but if I can't fit a 48mm wide battery in this thing, I'm cancelling my order!

I messed around with the demo Maxx at the LHS store today.
Width is about 46mm, my 46mm battery fit in perfectly. I have a 48mm that I could force in there in a pinch, but I would stick to 46, maybe 47mm max. My Awanfi 3S 5000mah hardcase fits PERFECTLY with no extra side to side room.
Height-wise, it also fit my 38mm tall Awanfi battery perfectly with the stock foam spacer. If you remove the stick-on foam spacer, you could go up to about 43mm. I didn't measure it, but 43-44mm is what it looks like.
So about 46 wide, 38/43mm tall (foam/no foam) is what I would aim for.

Just measured the Awanfi, it is 46.7mm wide. Fits perfect.
My SMC 4S 5000mah is 47.9mm wide and you can jam it in there, but it’s not good.

I felt same way but Traxxas does this with several RC's now. My local hobby store wasn't aware of this issue and are hoping to "sell a ton of them" but I showed them that they only had 1 4s lipo in the store that would fit it and it is a 140 dollar high end lipo. Can't sell many of these trucks without batteries to go in it.
Sure cant fit two 2s packs in it.
So are ya gonna cancel or what 4s lipo will you choose to go in it?

A SMC 4s 7200 fits perfect. Couple of videos with guys using them.
I only use hardcase batteries.

I do t think the Traxxas chassis would flex enough for a soft lipo to be affected by it. I know the Arrma chassis do flex and damage them though.

Just picked up my truck up if u take the black foam block out u can fit mostly anything in it
Directions say for 4s take out the foam spacer then install the battery pack spacer
Sorry read wrong the clip is for 3s but it's still loose I'll have to put a piece of foam
You could always just use a Pure-Tech Xtreme Quick Mounts (Large) then you could fit whatever packs you like![]()
This is why I only use Traxxas Batteries...less headache.
The 2878 3s that I use in the X-Maxx fit perfectly in the Maxx after removing the foam block in the front of the tray.
Was hoping to use the Traxxas 6700mAh 4s packs from my X-Maxx, but if that's a no go then the cost of buying an additional battery on top of the MAXX itself just tips the scale over the edge for me - too much for a truck of this size......

SMC 7200 mah 4s fits like a glove! The one that is made for the X-Maxx. Got two in yesterday. Thanks to Mach Speed Hobbies for this info in his YouTube videos
