    Broken part on Slash 4x4

Hello Iím new to the RC work. Bought my first real hobby grade RC car about a moth ago now. I picked up a Traxxas Slash 4x4 from my local hobby shop local being 20miles away now. However Iíve been enjoying my slash and been doing a lot of bashing with it and my 7 year old loves it to. Now we have a small problem I had a hard crash with it last night and noticed it wasnít steering right all that well. So I picked it up and nothing seamed wrong. Battery was dead so we went back home after further look I noticed the arm that steals was broken off. Will be in picture of what it is. Not familiar with all the parts yet.

That arm is bent is there ones that are more durable and what exactly will I need to get it back up and running. Thanks in advance for the help.

Not exactly sure what part you are referring to but these exploded views should help you....once you figure out the part name post back and we can help you figure out if there are better options than the stock piece. Good luck!!

Which arm is bent? It looks straight to me. You could get the Rustler 4x4 arm which is a little stronger than the Slash.

I've heard bad things about the rpm rod ends.

Also, the a arms are much cheaper off of Jenny's rc.

Oh nice they are back in stock at Jennyrc thanks for the heads up. They were out of stock for like 2 months when I wanted to buy mine. So I settled for amazon.

We likely read the same problems people have the RPM rod ends but that is what I want to hear from the part best used as a breakpoint since it is super cheap. I rather break a rod end than bend a rod or break the tab the rod end is bolted to. Just my opinion tho.

That is odd since the slash 4x4 and rustler 4x4 plus a few more use the same parts. Are they too long or too short?

They must of sent the wrong pack of parts.

Did you buy an entire new link? If you did:
    1. They are all different lengths
    2. I believe the toe links have slightly different ball ends.

    Keep that in mind

This is where it won’t fit in. The other side fits very snug but it fits. Thanks for the tap talk suggestion.

So the ball end is too big? Can you reuse one of the original ball ends? Just pop out the old one and put it in the new rod end.

    Yep...
thatís the wrong ball end. The ball end should be thinner than the other ones but only on that side.

No, the ends should be fine. The ball is just incorrect.

You can get them out you just have to push them out the right way. If you look close you will see that 1 end of the metal ball is smaller than the other. You need to push on the smaller end because it will fit through the hole. I have a tool for it now but I use to use a small socket that was just larger than the ball and an allen driver that narrowed right at the tip.

You can remove a ball end. You just need to use a pair of pliers. It looks like you have the correct part in your bag.

Thanks everyone I was able to get the ball ends out just used an alien key and applied pressure was able to snap them back in with my fingers. Replaced both sides since these are much thicker. Gonna go for a test run now nice and wet outside too.
