3s batteries with one dead cell

I have found a couple batteries I have were causing issues with the low voltage cutouts on the esc. I went to put them in storage when the Traxxas charger showed the battery had a bad cell on each pack. My question is has anyone tried eliminating the bad cell and making the pack a 2s? These batteries are about 1 1/2 yrs old. Would it affect the mah or c rating by doing this? I know I would need to change the connector to a 2s style.

I'm thinking my charger might have a poor connection. It started showing a bad cell in more batteries, 2S and 3S. I fiddled with it a bit and it started reading the cell voltage correctly. I do think one of the 3S batteries is bad just haven't had the time to retest it.
