    Anyone Play With Nerf?

Hey guys just wanted to know if anyone here has any experience with playing/modding nerf guns?

I just pulled my old broken Rapidstrike out of the closet and had I flood of nostalgia playing around with it, and of me and my grandpop working on it.

I would love to hear any stories you have.

    Thanks

Did you and grand modify yours ?
I have a couple of NStrike guns in my Miata trunk. We all bought them at work for “team building “ a few years ago and my classroom became the storage area for them as people stopped using and playing with them

I play/mod Nerf blasters with my son.

We have quite a collection of blasters and builds/projects in progress.

There are many good sources for parts:
    https://outofdarts.com/collections
    https://foamblastshop.com/
    https://www.containmentcrew.com/product-category/type/
    https://www.nfstrike.com/
    https://www.workerkit.com/
There are many more (web stores/Amazon/eBay/Etsy), but those are the one's I have purchased parts from.

YouTube has many channels by good Nerfers as well:

    https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCdm...kPO1KtwVgUR5wA

    https://www.youtube.com/channel/UChc...UqSwtcVmz5I7DQ
    https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCQY...188D5ijYJRZqFQ
    to name a few...

    Have fun!

    Edit:
Here's a mod guide for the Rapidstrike (slightly outdated):

Thanks for finding me another project that I don't need but now have the urge to do. Going to look at that book this weekend if I can find a copy at the library.

I have that book... it is introductory/general.

If you want to know how to mod a specific blaster, there are many mod guides on-line (Reddit is a good source) and on YouTube.

What blaster do you want to mod? I may be able to point you in the right direction...

If looking for the latest and greatest Rival (foam ball) blaster from Nerf, look at their Perses. Out of the box, it is a great blaster. Once modded, it is a beast.

    Stock:
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lELIMmoAkeU

    Modded:
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=umVj6y0UPI4&t=6s

If you are looking for a foam dart blaster, I like the older "Stryfe" blaster. There are MANY mods and parts available.

    Modded:
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1e0UdoCFTqs

The above are motorized flywheel type blasters.

There are upgraded springs available for just about every "springer" type blasters as well.

The Stryfe looks cool. I'll see if I can pick one up at wally world over the long weekend. A guide for the spring-loaded ones would be nice as those are easy to find at thrift stores and I probably have one laying around.

I was thinking of putting a 130 rhino/Honey badger for the pusher and 2 revamped as the flywheel motors in my rapidstrike

    What switches/extras do you recommend?

    I've never modded a RapidStrike.

That said, off the top of my head, I would say go Revamped (x3), 2S LiPo, battery thumb screw, 42.5 metal cage, Inferno Flywheels, 10A microswitches, RapidStrike Ultimae PCB and 3D plate, 16AWG wire, XT60 connectors, and a mini LiPo LVA.

I like Out of Darts (West Coast) and FoamBlast Shop (East Coast) for my parts. I tend to use Out of Darts more since I am on the West Coast.

    Good luck and have fun!

The Stryfe is hard to find on the shelf these days.

Maybe your Wallmart has come Battle Camo Stryfes still on their shelves.

If you are going to completely mod it, you can always get new or used ones on eBay or Amazon.

Just looked at Containmet Crew and saw this:

Any luck finding a Stryfe on the shelves?

I love my flywheel blasters, but they can get loud. Sometimes I'd rather use my springers.

    Have fun!

Unfortunately not the exact model you had linked earlier. I came across this one though. https://www.amazon.com/NERF-Motorize...s%2C170&sr=8-1

Would this one be good to modify for a beginner? I'll keep looking at thrift stores for used ones. Do you have a link to a basic guide on how to modify a spring-operated blaster?

    That is still a Stryfe.

    In order of release:
    Original: Blue
    2nd Release: Orange
    3rd Release: White
4th Release: Camo (Blue, White & Grey)

For a springer, just get a spring that is made for you model and swap it in.

    Have fun!

@Squeegie By the way?, Do you happen to know how to take apart a rapidstrike stock?

I cant seem to get the sliding adapter off the stock and it's driving me crazy.

I’ve never had a Rapidstrike, but I posted a video back at the end of my post on post #4.

You can also search “rapidstrike mod guide” on YouTube. There are many mild to wild builds to see.

    Have fun!

I just watched the beginning of this video and the stock just lifts out once the shell is opened:

Well I actually meant that blue adapter on the "rail" of the stock

I need it removed for painting, so if you come across some video that shows that please let me know

    Thanks
