    Is the VXL-4S actually a VXL-6S?

Does anybody know if the VXL-4S is just a VXL-6S with different battery leads and sticker? New programming? They are the exact same size and look identical so I'm thinking they are.

The real reason I ask is because the VXL-4S seems to be MUCH larger than it needs to be. I'm also curious if a 6S battery work work on this, but I would bet Traxxas re-programmed it even if they are the same to protect the motor.

Iím very interested in this too. It seems overly large for the quoted specs. I feel like itís hiding something :P

They've implied that it is in some Traxxas videos.

Someone with more disposable income than me needs to put the big volts to this thing and “just send it”

Does anyone know what these 8 pins are for? I feel like Iím missing something obvious but Iíve been looking around for a bit for info.

Does the VXL-6S have these as well?

Thanks for that view of the 6S. I had searched and hadnít found a pic.

I didnít even think of the lights but I read a post on FB on someone asking about using the light kit without the vxl esc.

Very interesting what the internal differences are. The look very similar hey.

Looking at them side by side with the tops off, the top and bottom case are slightly different. Iíd still bet internally they are identical. If these are a de-tuned VXL-6S units they shouldnít ever get super hot on a 4S.

They may have used a similar PCB layout but used lower rated FETs or something. Impossible to know without looking at the boards and the components.

Iíll have a look at the 4S when home and see if the cases will split open easy enough. They looked like they only had about 4 press tabs and that they should open easy enough, just wasnít game at the time.

If it is easy enough, and I can see the FET designations, are you keen to split open your 6S?

Ahh, brain fart. Shouldnít post before coffee

The fets will be bonded to the heat sink so they wonít be directly visible.

if it is a detuned 6s then id be happy hopefully that means it will run 4s with no issues for a long time unlike the 3s esc that is prone to fail on long exposures to 3s power and high gearing.
