    TRX 3.3 best nitro (fuel)

Just curious on what brands of fuel are the best to run with the TRX 3.3.. thinking about switching over to Torco 20% currently using vp power master
More throttle more fun! J Mo

I look at what my local hobby shop carries or can get. Shipping fuel can be expensive as many places charge extra for hazard fee.

I’ve had great luck with VP fuels. I’m on my 6th gallon for my 3.3 and it still runs strong.

There is a seller on ebay offering redmax fuel in different percentages. Usually under 50.00 a gal shipped.

I like gasoline with 2 stroke oil best. Lol

But seriously I like it the best.

You like 2 stroke mix over 30% nitro?

Didn't know that was possible. What did it take to convert? I doubt that I would do it but interested in the tech.

Very hot glow plug(lc3), high compression cylinder head, gasoline fuel lines, and a weed trimmer carb. Here is a link to my thread about it -

    https://forums.traxxas.com/showthrea...ed-to-gasoline

I haven't done much with it in the past few months because of the holiday season, school, various projects, and an electric paramotor I recently started working on.

I've used quite a few fuels over the years and have been using byrons race 2500 for the past 10 or so. Seems to work really well, so it's what I run.

One fuel I'll never run again is odonnels. Don't know why, but it was awful to run. Poor power, hard starting, etc. Could be I just got a couple really old stale gallons when I bought it (20% and 30% to mix to 25%). I ran trinity MHP 20% for quite a few years at first.

That's great info Olds. I'm running great on Traxxas 20, it is expensive which is about 65 a gallon. Its 64.00 a gallon from my closest hobby shop. I may try redmax, its 48.00 a gal shipped off of ebay.

Anyone ever thought about mixing their own? I've seen a couple of videos on it but haven't really put it as a priority research project.

These are what I have run:
Wildcat - high oil content, very messy stuff
Traxxas - pretty high oil content
    Dynamite - made everything blue
Trinity MHP - ran well, exhaust would make your eyes burn
Odonnel - smelled like gun powder when burning, ran like garbage for me
    Losi Nitrotane - can't remember
Byrons - tunes well, gives good power and runs relatively cool

There was one other... can't recall... for the past 10 years or so, I've only run 25%. My LRP's seemed to like it and I didn't want to keep 20% and 25% fuel around, so I just ran that in everything. 9 times out of 10, the LHS wouldn't have 25%, so I'd buy a gallon of 20 and 30, then mix it 50/50 in empty jugs at home. Wasn't an exact science, but probably got me close.

I would use 20% in my os 12. Torco. Used Byrons also. Both I like.

    Torco sells the mix kits.

I think the problem with running Gas/oil is maintaining the correct operating temps, getting the tune set for the correct head temp range. 200-220F. Air/fuel ratio at the carb would have to be addressed. Carb idle needle may have to be tweaked a bit?

My closest hobby has traxxas and VP. They are a traxxas dealer but only have electric parts. They made a crack about me running nitro and I replied 2 things I've never done... molested children and ran electric lol.
