Hi guys.
I finally finished turning my Xmaxx into a snowplow. I found this modification difficult as I could find very little on the internet to help guide me through. But now that it's done, I am super happy with the results and thought I would share in case anyone else needs help. I have pictures and video, but I can't add attachments to my posts.

That is a nice looking plow! Did you gear the XMAXX down at all? If not, do you find throttle control to be challenging at all? How does it do plowing the snow?
Did you add any weight to the truck?

I have not, and yes, it is very difficult to control on take off. Once rolling not so bad. Basically because of the initial torque when adding throttle, the plow is a little high.
My rc knowledge ends at taking it apart and putting it back together... Would a different spur gear be all thats needed to reduce the power when throttling or is there more to it to gear it down.

No, but that will be something to look into. I made tire chains but the chains ended up being to weak and links kept snapping.... but I was think the next step would be to add about 20 pounds to it...10 back 10 front and will see if that helos enough. Also running on stock tires.

Thanks... much better than desktop!

Well this was short lived...already seem to have blown the motor on the winch. I have to admit, it is rated for 6,6lbs of lift and I had it pulling probably closer to 10 lbs.
If anyone knows of a sronger winch for rc...
Anyhoo, I figured I would add photos of completed project. It was fun and challenging given the limited space to mount everyting and keep it dry.
Broke some things, bought some things, learned some things.

I just think the idea is cool. Nice execution on fabricating and mounting.

I would add weight to it and put spikes in the tires

Since I blew out the first winch, I finally found one with a little more "oumff"... deadlift 50lbs!

Also found a way to repurpose the blown winch...it's usefull on my trx4. It might not work, but sure beats the stock plastic mold with a sticker on it

Nice, you have Traxx on the TRX-4. How do you like them? I love that plow on the XMAXX!
So far I am loving the Traxx...I got the TRX-4 w/Traxx and bonus set of wheels included.
Despite the maintenance required, I don't see my self swapping for the wheels. Works great in snow, just need to put it outside before using to get the tracks cold so they don't freeze right away.
Can't wait to get out in trails this summer where my hands can last longer than 10 mins outside lol

The winch is super cool. The plow is sweet! I need both! Video of it plowing snow please
Just one more rc, then I'm done.

Not great videos, but serve their purpose. And also these were before the winch was installed.http://cloud.tapatalk.com/s/5e1c4fbe...6727178511.mp4http://cloud.tapatalk.com/s/5e1c4fc7...4537817135.mp4

I exclaimed loudly,
"Haaaa That's Awesome!!!!!"
If there was only a way you could lift it and angle side to side, like a real one!Ideas for plow 2.0???
That's so sick I watched it again lol. Now can I figure out a rake for leaves in fall for my X??? Lol
Just one more rc, then I'm done.

So the new winch has arrived and I installed it. Pulls great on the plow... but after 2-3 test pulls the line snapped.
Any suggestions what I should use as a winch line?

Braided steel? What about spider wire, it’s Kevlar woven fishing line, super tough

I plowed for 15 yrs for local gov't and that working plow is the coolest thing I've seen in a while!!! So much like my real plow did lol. The lights are a perfect addition!! Only suggestion on video would be speed up the multiple back n forth plowing as you worked across main part of driveway. I just slide bar across with finger to get to next shot and gave me that idea for ya. Other than that the plow is awesome and video was super cool too. So plow cant run of rx voltage huh that's to bad so you'll always need extra batt, hmmmhow can we fix that lol

Cool video. Glad you got a working final product. Also glad my spider wire suggestion did not fall on deaf ears. Well done.

That’s a pretty cool truck you got and it sure beats shoveling by hand lol. I’ll never take my X-Maxx out in the snow again with the stock ESC after my last one failed from water damage.
