    Converting a slash4x4 to a rustler 4x4?

Has anyone converted their slash 4x4 into a rustler 4x4? I canít find much info on it but was curious what parts I would need to get it done? I know the suspension setups are the same and the real differences are the chassis and shock towers.

You would also need a body, center drive shaft, and batteries...

Good luck and keep us posted!

It will also depend on which slash 4x4 you are starting with, the HCG or LCG

I have batteries.. but yea I mean a body is a given. That driveshaft is different? Assuming the rustler one is shorter then?

Mine is HCG so I know I’m probably gonna need LCG bulkheads?

    Yeah. So you will need

    -chassis
-bumpers, especially the rear bottom piece that holds in the suspension arm pins
    -battery hold down
    -receiver box
-shock towers if you want to run the clip less body
    -body
    -front and rear bulkhead
-that little steering linkage that the steering horn attaches to, HCG and LCG use different ones
-center drive shaft. Might be a good time to get tekno or something off the bat

I could be missing something but the above is what I can think at the moment.

Awesome. I already have bumpers and shock towers on order. I know where I can pick up a chassis with the battery box, receiver box, and motor mount bits already attached. Then I was thinking about getting the slash LCG conversion kit because that comes with most of the other bits I’ll need besides the center driveshaft. And like you said, I’ll probably grab an upgraded one while I’m at it

I took a different route, one that would be easily reverseable.

I ended up with a Rustler "concept".

I started with a 2015 brushless Velineon 4x4 Rally (essentially a LCG 4x4 Slash chassis).

Removed and saved the body and front and rear bumpers and body mounts.

    Added Rustler 4x4 VXL parts:

    #6737 rear bumper/mount (from Traxxas $7)
#6776 wheelie bar (from Traxxas $10)
    #6736 front bumper/support (from Traxxas $6)
    #6773 tires/wheels (2.8) assembled, glued (new take-offs from ebay $50)

For a small body I used a discontinued JConcepts lexan chassis protector (that I already had)

After testing I added a XL coonskin hat with face and tail, so I could have fun with my neighbor’s dog.

Just placed an order for what should be everything I need to complete the conversion

-chassis with motor mount + battery tie down bits included
    -center driveshaft
    -shock towers
    -receiver box
-LCG bulkheads with steering bellcrank and links included

Total cost of about $67 on eBay
