I'll upload video how my son is having fun with his Maxx. It was crazy![]()
I just got my green bodied MAXX delivered a couple hours ago. Already have one 3S pack through it. It rips! Much more fun than my stock 12 year old stadium truck![]()
Are you going to be getting the metal driveshafts soon? I'm contemplating biting the bullet and ordering the whole setup as my "bday" present lol. The wife got a bikini, I get truck parts, fair trade. Although I'm debating between a full wide kit, or getting mods for my real car. Choices....
I love my orange MAXX, but I was so choked when they announced the green one like a month later. My fav colour and I absolutely would have gone that route. Oh well.
Yeah coopchoked on that orange/green deal here also
Thanks Traxxas
1 set of steel axles on the rear of each Maxx here
The front stock axles have been surviving with minor wear
>until the tree impact issue
Staying stock here

Ran my Maxx for the first time and was very happy. First time RC/Traxxas owner and I was all smiles.
Would someone mind giving this newb some advice? I am running Traxxas 8400mah 3S batteries (#2878X) and saw in the instructions that I need to remove the foam block from the battery compartment and the thin foam pad under the arm that holds the battery in place. No problem, but after two sessions I noticed the battery has a lot of marks and dings on it, making me concerned.
Should I be concerned or is this normal? Am I doing it wrong (probably lol) or any tips to better protect 2878x battery? I have the battery spacer that came with the Maxx which will help keep firm and protect my Traxxas 4S 5000mah (#2889X) battery, maybe I need to get the battery hold down and mount kit? Appreciate any feedback!
Got a battery this past week specifically just for the Maxx, a SMC 7200mAH 4s
Before that I was running two 2S in series and they did Not like that for some reason(started to puff), can't figure that one out because that's my E-Maxx setup and it never had any issues there.
Sort of pondering ordering the Widemaxx parts, I'd probably already have them if my LHS wasn't 100% closed, but maybe when they reopen I'll stop in
This is how my battery looked after the first run. I removed the foam block from the battery compartment, but I also removed the foam strip that sits underneath the arm that locks in place and holds the battery down. The instructions that came with my Maxx was referring to using the Traxxas 4S 5000 battery, and I thought that applied as well to the behemoth of a battery that the Traxxas 3S 8400 battery. I guess not, I just ordered a battery hold/tie down kit that comes with additional foam pads that should help from seeing battery beating.
What do you think, this battery still safe to use or is this hardly anything to worry about?
No worries
Happily beat my Maxx today
Just keeps making me smile

What did I do with my max today ? Well after a battery pack n a half , I sent it in to the factory with a blown esc , ran it on traxxas 6400 mAh 3s lipo , and it cost me $60 to ship it , WEEEEEE !!!! This is fun !!
No worries on that , but a layer of duct tape would make it stronger , and make sure to clean tray Everytime you drive it , a little pebble acts like a drill bit in-between the tray and battery , and put a battery packing pad in the tray for comfort action ,,, jaxson !! Stay healthy and bash on folks !!
Your o k on that , but make sure to clean the tray Everytime , a pebble acts like a drill bit in there ,put a battery packing pad in there , or a layer of duct tape is a good thing also , stay healthy out there folks !!
Appreciate the feedback, sorry to hear your Maxx is down at the moment :-(
I live in the boonies and have plenty of room to drive, but its all dirt roads and weeds and these wheels throw dirt everywhere inside the chassis lol. I am experimenting with adhesive foam strips I just cut to reduce the width and put a strip on the left and right side of the battery compartment to help hold it tight and *hopefully* will have a positive impact on the dirt and small rocks collecting in the battery tray.
When you say use a layer of duct tape, are you suggesting to lay down duct tape on the bottom of the tray? Wonder if they make battery packing pads never looked *runs to Amazon..*
can you post a picture of your maxx with the sledgehammers? ive been considering getting them or putting my revo2 tires on the maxx. ive been looking for reviews on the sledgehammers for the maxx but unable to find any. let me know your thoughts on those wheels running on 4s with the maxx

Have been running sledgehammers on the Maxx
everyday without rain since they arrived - month ago
tsm rated- very happy with the sledgehammers so far
They show a little wear- only used on dirt
Swell a little on stock gears full speed
Totally worthy

i went by the local hobby shop and picked up a 18t pinion #6491r and im thinking im going to throw my erevo2 tires on my maxx with that 18t gear and see what happens
but those sledgehammers look nice and if i dont like this erevo2 tires set up ill probably get some sledgehammers
okay so the 18 tooth pinion doesn't fit even if manual mesh is set, there's just not enough room to slide the motor over far enough to make enough contact with the spur gear so tomorrow ill be going back to local hobby shop for a 20 tooth pinion.
i did grab some pics for you guys of the maxx with the erevo2 tires installed and i think i like it! note that it does rub the body a bit when fully turned and pushed down but can easily trim body. my maxx does not have the widekit installed and it does not appear to be able to bottom out anymore since it sits higher now

Those looks solid! Thanks for sharing the pics, like to see different options out there :-)
