is the rustler vxl 4x4 brushless the "best" version available rtr?

I am looking to buy a rustler but wanted to make sure that the 4x4 brushless vxl is the best rtr model out there . I was considering a senton brushless but had issues with a kraton and mojave so i returned both and bought a trx-4 sport and now soon a rustler

I was going to buy the radio adapter and the telemetry equipment (i figure why not) I figure 1/10 is better suited for the areas im going to be running vs 1/8

i plan on running it mostly on short grass dirt gravel and street

is this the right model (with all the bells and whistles)
    https://smile.amazon.com/Rustler-4X4...8701721&sr=8-3

then i need the tqi module for the transmitter
    https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/...=AZC10Z4SLMKX9

and the telemetry (does it just connect to the esc or something?)

is there any other day one things i might need other than a 3s lipos? any lipos not fit well etc?
i was going to get (I have an hota d6+ charger uses xt60) figure i would use an adapter for car figure 5200mah 80c 14.4v hardcase is good

That zeee lipo wonít fit with the stock battery hold down, youíll have to either find a slightly smaller battery or find another way to secure it in the battery tray. I actually have the same battery just in soft pack and itís a very tight fit with the stock battery hold down. The lipo has amazing power and lasts me around 40 mins a run. Itís a solid lipo.

As for the telemetry, idk about that. Canít help you there.

And lastly, as for the rustler 4x4 VXL being the best rtr, thatís subjective to each person. It might be great for you, it might not be. Such is the nature of the hobby. But, from what Iíve seen, 99% of people really enjoy their rustler 4x4. I know I enjoy mine, itís a great rc.

I think the question is - is the VXL 4x4 the best Rustler, in which case - yes. If I was buying again I might consider the new Maxx, saw one at the park yesterday and was quite impressed but it's a bigger cash outlay and the higher speeds probably will mean more broken stuff that costs more than for the Rustler - the Rusty hits a sweet spot IMO.

I recommend budgeting for a new servo & servo horn pretty early. The stock servo is plastic geared and lasted me all of a battery pack :/ Even a cheap "20kg" model from Amazon is a decent upgrade and will take a lot more abuse.

If it's hot where you are a fan on esc & motor will help, I need to use them in FL once temps are in the upper 80s. I went with a Traxxas ESC fan, reviews of the cheaper generics were not good. I couldn't find any well reviewed motor fans really so I went with a design that enclosed the fan - figure less chance of debris getting in and jamming it... which happens often to me on the ESC fan.

PS - my other truck is a TRX4 too, love that thing!

I have almost all of the Traxxas lineup, I've been known to say, if I could only have one that it would either be the Rustler 4x4 VXL or the Maxx. I'd choose the Rusty for flat ground and the Maxx for stunts. With the Rusty, the only thing you might need right away is aluminum shock caps and maybe an extra set of A-Arms if you're running 3s.
