    Stinga's TRX-4 "tactical" build

So I was at my LHS a few days ago and I noticed something sitting on a shelf that was calling me over...
A slightly used/modified tactical body for TRX-4... modified to sit on a regular TRX-4.
Being that I saw somewhere that they are discontinued, I did not want to miss out on having one since, well simply, since they are awesome
So today, I am going to get my kit that I have been wanting for a while and I am gonna build it from the ground up.

Now, I am a Traxxas lover, and tend to keep them pretty much stock as I have never had any issues with motors or electronics (smashing into walls and breaking other stuff is another story) so the kit will most likely be built as is.
    With one exception...
Along with the Traxx I have on my current TRX-4, I have the stock servo (2075X) and I am seeing that this can use some improvement so I was looking at Traxxas 400( 2255) along with BEC kit (2262) and metal arm (8247X).
However, I find it to be a pricey upgrade, so I would like your opinion: would I really be getting my money's worth with this upgrade?

Here is a little preview, I bought a cheap light kit and installed that in the body and took it for a spin on my current TRX-4 http://cloud.tapatalk.com/s/5e454822...212_165518.mp4

Ok, so this thread didn't work out as planned...
I that it would be a step by step, but I ended up doing it all the second night Once I was started I couldn't stop

Seeing as my original TRX-4 is a single speed/locked diff version, I decided on keeping that my "Traxx" unit with the tactical body since they look great together.

I also went ahead with the 400 servo uograde (for both units), and am very happy I did! Hard packed snow doesn't stop me from turning any more!

Since the tracks already add quite a bit of weight, I removed all the brass uograded and added them to my new TRX-4. Seeing as it has the 2 gears and unlocking diffs, it serves me better on this one as it will be my main crawler.

Next came the lights... I love lights (without turning my trucks into Christmas trees) so here is what I did.

    Traxx tactical:
-led front/rear lights (cheap chinese)((pics in original post))
    -led rock lights (cheap chinese)
-Traxxas hi/low beam led light bar

I rigged the front/rear directy to receiver. I made a single connection for the 2 sets of rock lights and changed the plug to be compatible with Traxxas light module. The light bar I had to drill into the body and used stainless nuts and bolts. Also plugged into light module.

    Sport crawler:
-factory installed front/rear and light bar.
    - added a light module since the kit does not include one.
    - added Traxxas rock lights. (Made as 1 set so no tinkering required)
    - added Traxxas expedition rack lights.

Since all Traxxas, it was much easier, everything simply plugs into module.

    Installed brass:
Front wheel hubs, front carriers and front bumper mount.

Someone on FB shared a Traxxas post of how to do simple and cheap upgrades... One of which I did and am really happy with the result: flipping the bumper mounts upside down. This raises each of them. Which gives (IMO) a huge difference in clearance levels. I had to cut out a small part of the rear of the body, but was worth it. (Trusty Dremel to the rescue, again)

I think that about covers it all, if anyone is still reading at this point

I will be back to post video and pics (I have passed my limit lol)

    I knew there was more...
Also painted fuel tanks as well as the shovel and axe that came with my original unit. The tanks came white and are now red as they should be.
The shovel and axe came all gray. They are now red, yellow and black.

So, since I use this app quite a bit, went ahead and paid the vip subsciption. Well worth it when I think of the advice and info I get here.

So here are a few pics, more to follow...

A few more. The lighter was to give an idea of how massive the brass wheel hubs are.

Fuel tanks look much better in red!
Tools also look much better painted.

And the cut body with raised rear bumper... wish I thought of it before, makes all the difference.
