    All I can say is that your video in post #60 has answered a lot of questions for me. Most people that are new to the X-Maxx truck don't realize that the stock motor was two different versions in the truck. You had the 1600XL and the one in the newer truck is a 1200XL (1275kv) motor I believe.

    Am I understanding correctly that you are running the 1600XL (6S) version motor on two 4S LiPo's? Or are you just running the 1600XL motor on an 8S version truck platform?

    Either way, I am impressed with what that 1600XL motor was doing regardless of what battery configuration was being run through it!

    You mentioned maximum punch for your ESC setting and I'm thinking that's what woke up that 1600XL motor right? Of course then again, it comes down to what battery configuration you were using and I saw 8S but think you were running two 3S LiPo batteries.

    Could you possibly recall if you were using two 4S or two 3S batteries because that truck was awfully powerful for a 1600XL motor.

    That sounds really good and thus my questions in post #61. On paper, Traxxas states that the 1600XL motor was designed for 6S so long as their (Traxxas) ESC was used. Same thing with the 1200XL motor, only it was designed for 8S use with their VXL-8S ESC.

    Now, I'm just wondering if some of threads that I saw where some 1600XL motors went up in smoke was because a Max6 was used that is capable of 8S and the 1600XL motor couldn't handle it but the ESC could. Matter of fact, the highest recommended Kv motor to be used with a Max6 on 8S according to Hobbywing is 8S≤1200Kv motor.

    Just something I was thinking about, because I remember seeing the specs on what both motors were designed for and was trying to make the correlation between those 1600XL motors going up in smoke and what ESC was used when it happened.

    Usually, a lower Kv rating for the motor requires a ESC capable of higher amp output and when you have a higher Kv motor, you want a lower amp output ESC. So when I saw people smoking 1600XL motors using 160 amp capable ESC's (1050 amp peak current), well.........something has to give and apparently it was the 1600XL motors.

    Maybe-motor bearing blows an blame the esc or cell count
