TRX4 Traxx Edition will not turn off

Hi all! So my practically brand new TRX4 Traxx will not turn off, and it will not respond to the radio. It has only been out of the house once, and even then just around the front yard playing with my grandson and his truck. It has never given me a problem in the two months (give or take) that I have had it. Tonight, I climbed up the side of the bed with it, it did great, ran it around on the floor some, and with it still turned on got into a 5 minute conversation with my wife, and it stopped responding to the radio. I then tried to turn it off at the ESC, and it won't do that either. I certainly did not run it overly hard, and nothing under the body feels even the slightest warm to the touch, so I am at a total loss here. I had read to try holding in the ESC button for about 15 seconds, and I tried that, did it for about 45 seconds to be honest, and still nothing. The light on the receiver box blinks red, until the transmitter is turned on, at which time it goes solid green.

I also wanted to add that I tried replacing the batteries in the truck and the radio, to the same results. The battery in the truck should not be dead anyhow, as it was a freshly charged lipo.

So, as of now, all I can do is unplug it, and even when I plug it back in it will not respond to any radio inputs. Any suggestions?

Thank you, in advance, for any help you might provide!!

Sounds like your power button is sticky.

Call Traxxas, they’ll take care of you.

Traxxas has set up all new ESC's to turn off by unplugging the battery. The button will only turn on the ESC. They did this because new customers would leave the battery plugged in and the ESC even when off will drain the battery and ruin it.

In my case as soon as it was plugged in it would be like holding the button to change modes but never letting go it would not arm.Now that you mention it I remove switches on most esc so I always unplug to shut off.never tried it I dont think. It makes sense.I killed a lipo years ago doing exactly that.

The only ESC that I knew of was the VXL-6s in the E-Revo and Unlimited Desert Racer. My other Traxxas ESC's still shut off with holding down the button. Traxxas never gave a reason why so your comment is just speculation.

    Here is the update news:https://traxxas.com/news/vxl6s-firmware-update

Sadly, crud wasn't the issue, as I have been unable to give it a good running outside since I got it a month and a half ago, due to health issues. However, I did send it in to Traxxas, and they are replacing the ESC, as it had gone bad. Thanks though, will certainly keep that in mind should I run into a similar issue in the future!!

As @grizzly03 said, my TRX4 does indeed turn on and off at the ESC, has since I took it, brand new, out of the box a month and a half ago. Hit the button, lights and servos activate, hit it again and everything goes out.
