Hello,
Can I swap out the vxl-6 and motor, for a Hobbywing Max-6 combo 1100 kv.
Yep it can be done.
You will need to buy a few other things though.
If you’re going that route why not put in a max5 and 56113?
You’ll need motor mount, hobbywing set max5 and 56113, input shaft machined and gears.
And batteries if you are going 6s to 8s

Your differentials are going to hate that if you do not upgrade to the 8S ones

I don't know if this would be a good setup for you, Ford 150, but I run a Leopard 1340 motor, A Castle XLX-L ESC, 54/26 or 54/29 gearing, and use 6s batteries. I have been very happy with this setup with regards to performance, and 6s batteries are a whole lot cheaper to run and maintain than 8s batteries. Plus, being all my other vehicles are 6s, I don't have to keep special batteries just for one truck, and my Xmaxx has really good reliability too...just throwing it out there.
Life's to short to be a sour puss.
Thanks guys, for the info. I was wondering if the diffs were different?
For that size of truck, I'd likely skip the max6 and use the max5. Less likely to have overheating issues on you down the line should you choose to go 8S. May as well spend the extra $45-50 now to avoid being annoyed later.
I run the max6 with a 2050kv 4074 motor in both my ERBEv2 and Outcast6S, both on 6S. I wanted a little more headroom so I could gear a tad quicker and hopefully not have overheating issues since I run in the grass so much.
