    Intermittent throttle, hot ESC, shutdown

Took our Rustler 4x4 VXL out yesterday and here's what happened:

Pulled throttle, result: intermittent / choppy power at low throttle settings, medium power at high throttle settings.

Seemed naturally that something may be interfering / sticking in the drive train. I inspected everything and checked that the wheels seemed to move freely. Also put it down and moved it along the ground for a short distance by hand to feel the resistance. Took the cover off to inspect spur and pinion gear. All seemed normal.

I haven't yet done a full disassembly of the diffs, etc. Hoping to avoid that.

ESC immediately overheated in this condition and shut down.

    Any suggestions ?

    Cheers.

If you ran it in grass, it is possible that some pieces of grass are stuck in a driveshaft. Also, were you running the batteries in the correct mode?

Typical low speed cogging and training mode?
