    Best available 3s battery

I have been away for some years and recently got out my merv... In the past I always had good luck with SPC batteries, but they are no longer around, so what is the latest favorite for 1/16 stuff?

https://www.smc-racing.net/ has been best so far for most of us. To to car guild and then to car for what will fit yours.

Am I missing something? I looked at the guide but there are and no associated products. And I only see six 3s batteries in total, all much larger... did we lose another source?

    1/16th E-Revo:

    7.4V-2500mAh-40C

    11.1V-1500mAh-40C

    They only have two sizes...

Hmm when I click links no longer showings available.. he may be out of stock. And pulled the item. Worth a email to see when available? They respond pretty fast.

I'd personally hold out till back available. But if need something asap.... Perhaps look elsewhere.

The smc have 80c burst rating as well. Noticable power difference over my venom 2000mha 20c.

Venom and gen ace brands may still have some available. I've yet to have issues with those brands. Lectron pro I won't use again.

Get 40C or better batteries. Worth it.

Glad I'm stocked up. But my Merv needs a dif rebuild.

Thanks again. I'll shoot em an email. I have one living 3s spc and a few more with low voltage errors that will require "resurrection" but they are all pretty much spent

Uugh ! I hate to be the bearer of bad news but below is SMS's response to my inquiry.

    Hi,
We no longer offer these as the demand was to low.

    Regards,
    Danny Sullivan

We're gonna need a new source of quality batteries apparently, no more SPC or SMC

Timely, as I'm just dusting off my merv after a few years. Still looking into what batteries to get too. Did the connectors change at some point? The photos I've been seeing look like a different configuration. I think I purchased mine in 2012-?

So, I figured out the new connectors have the balance wire built in, so the new style lipo batteries won't work with my old charger. What are my options here?

There is a adapter. To go from the new traxass id plug on battery to old style trx plug with Ballance port.

Why wouldn't you just stick to nimh in series? It's faster than 3s

How is not running NiMh in series not faster than 3s?
    Fully charged: (NiMh 1.5v x 12cells = 18v) vs (LiPo 4.2v x 3cells = 12.6v)

There are other reasons why to use 3s over NiMh in series.

Oh wait are we not considering the 3s as also in series? Because then it seems like an apples to oranges comparison I may have misunderstood.

Well if did that then it's a 6s car. Esc and motor then must be able to handle that... The esc is only 3s capable.

You might need to re-read the comment. I didn't read anything about 3s LiPo batteries in series.

Also as Acidic01 pointed out this thread is under the 1/16 scale VXL section. So it's highly improbable they were talking 6s.

Hey Squeegie! You know me, I love me my SMC LiPos but Danny doesn't have them for MERVs anymore. MaxAmps are pricey! I like these cheapo packs from Amazon:

    Ovonic 2 pack 1500mAh 2S 7.4V 50C with Deans T Plug $13
    AWANFI 2 pack 1500mAh 2S 7.4V 45C with Deans T Plug $23

They fit in my MERV ... but it is a tight squeeze! Go cheap and try the Ovonic. You will need an adapter to go from TRX to Deans or solder on new connectors.

Just my old man two cents: LiPos rule NiMHs are stool.
