    New HD Push Rods

Has anybody tried out the new HD push rods? I ripped off my first one and I noticed they offer some new ones. They look like they have a lot more threaded plastic to help stop the pulled rod ends.

Here is what I'm talking about Part #'s 8619's. The originals are Part #'s 8618's.

I just ordered a set of 8619X blue HD push rods.

Should be buying them this week as back up for when the originals fail...

My LHS told me the new eRevo 2.0s will be arriving with the upgraded version.

Probably why the originals are "out of stock."

I'm just looking for the plain 8619

Where are ya guys find them to buy? Trx wants 5$ for shipping... Most any other retailer in USA is out of stock. That I've found so far

I don't think my lhs will have them yet as new. I'd have to call them tomorrow but perhaps they can get them without the shipping fee.

    Amazon doesn't list them yet.

I had to order direct from Traxxas. It worked out for me, I ordered some parts for my Nitro Vee at the same time.

I don't need any more parts right now that I can think of.. so perhaps I'll wait a bit till I need something else. Just kinda sad to pay almost as much in shipping as for the part. My lhs has been pretty good on having anything I need in stock.

But am interested in trying them as my rear right rod end still pulls out often even with 85mm straps. Really only side that does this... That a arm broke where rod end get screwed in. So got a new a arm to put in just yet to fix it .. don't know if that will solve issue.

My local hobby shop is small so they need to order more often than have in stock. But they are good to me, they let me order over the phone and pay when it comes in. But with this lockdown it's hard for me to get around, So mail it is.

I'll take some comparison pictures when I get them.

Those look really beefy! Won't help with ripping shock ends off though... not much can be done there as there isn't room to add more shock shaft to have the end threaded on better.

You could put aluminum ends on. I would rather replace a push rod end than a shock end, It's much easier.

It's the endless circle of what to upgrade.

Gluing the stock ones up with some Gorilla Glue, hope it holds up till the new ones arrive. Waiting for parts is no fun, Glad I have other vehicles.

Tried that in the past on nitro revo's. Then if you land really badly on one corner, you over compress the shock and it snaps the shock shaft off. That's really annoying to fix when your out bashing. If you just run plastic shock ends, then it likely either bends the end, eggs it out or breaks the shock end itself vs snapping the shock shaft. Snapping the shaft still happens on occasion, but for me it's been pretty rare when running plastic ends.

Definitely more meat the the end. I need to see if my lhs has them yet. Been slacking on the healing bench time.

I can't tell, is there more meat around the ball end? Or is that the same and only extra plastic due to the longer neck/larger OD of the threaded shaft?

Hoping you guys received your new rods, finally had a chance to install and bash. Much better looking and without question a stronger part all around.

There is more plastic around the ball end. Not a huge difference but there is more. It's hard to get a picture of the difference.

I measure the new ones at about .5mm thicker and wider than the originals. Adding about .25mm of material in each direction around the ball end.
The threaded part went up a 1mm thread size. (I think it's a 5mm thread). Also where the plastic is threaded is 8.3mm OD vs 7mm OD stock end.

This is what came on my e revo that arrived last Wednesday, only run three packs so far, just jumping a skateboard ramp in the back garden and using the fence to somersault off. So far nothing has come loose or pulled apart, but saying that, the stock servos seem okay at the moment too. I have a savox 1230sg standing by for the inevitable failure and the metal brace from my e revo 1.0

I ordered a set of 8619 for the rear of my ERBEv2. Hoping the extra beef around the ball end helps it keep from popping off up in the rocker as that seems to happen on mine within one or two bash sessions, then they just pop off to the side all the time. Rarely happens on the front... guessing the angles are a bit different or something. I don't need the flashy 7075... just wanted to see if the thicker ends help.

First comment...yay! I recently picked up a new e-revo 2.0 and am loving it! I've run like 2 battery cycles through it with no breakages!! But I have read numerous comments about the pushrod issues. So I've ordered the 8619x. Should arrive in 2 days. I also plan to do the bump stop in the rear shocks. While I have the shocks apart, should I change to a heavier weight oil?

Glad your having fun. I don't think you will need to do the bump stop mod. More so if your not having any issues with rod ends coming off.

If doing bigger jumps may want to do heavier springs and oil.

I had a tmaxx 3.3 for about 15 years. Loved it. But man is this truck an upgrade from that!! Do you think I won't need the bump stops because of the new pushrods?? I'm trying to make this truck as bullet proof as I can so as to avoid breaking stuff. I'd rather fix the weak areas now as opposed to after a breakage.

Have you ever that about trying some o-rings or rubber washer on each side to keep the ends centered on the pivot balls. I don't know if it would fix it or work, it's just an idea.

This works great, been doing it for years on most of my rcís. Eliminates almost all of the slop.

Care to share a pic of that. Guess I'm not seeing how that works with the o rings.

Pretty sure this is what they are referring too. I have this type of shock end on my off road E Revo 2.0 the o-rings go around the the ends of the hollow ball and help dampen the impact and help carry the load. Would work the same anywhere there is a hollow ball really.

Yeah it does...just use your original hollow balls and find a small rubber o-ring that will sit tight around the hollow ball. I was pleasantly surprised of they worked on my shock ends.

Haven't tried it. Will see how the new rods/ends work and if they still pop out after a couple bash sessions, I'll see about finding some o-rings to try and keep them on the ball.

Tried running there the other day... grass has grown and the ERBEv2 really struggled to get speed for the jumps, well, all but one of the jumps. Clover has grown everywhere on the track and it's thick. It just sucks speed and drove my temps up. I took the revo and stampede, but didn't even bother getting the stampede out of the bag because it would have just spent the entire time spinning tires.

Got some photo's of the 8619's vs the 8618's that I took when installing the 8619's. Strangely, if you search for traxxas 8618 on google, click the traxxas link, it takes you to the 8619's:
    https://traxxas.com/products/parts/8618

    Lands on:
    https://traxxas.com/products/parts/8619

The ends are a bit thicker/wider, but not much, so time will tell as to if they are any better than what they replaced. I only put a new set on the rear as those are the ones that are more prone to popping off the ball on the rocker end for me.

    Measurements:
    8618

    8619

I talked to my lhs Friday. They said they would order some on their next round. Didn't wanna pay 5$ on shipping on the 8$ part... So will await for lhs to get them in. No issues so far on my rod ends pulling out after a - arm replacment. But yet to bash it much, as xmaxx has gotten all the attention and broke my ramp.
