    2888x Lipo: discontinued?

I have a 2888x Lipo that I love because itís the only 4s battery from traxxas that fits in the 135mm long battery compartment of the short tray vehicles like rustler 4x4, stampede 4x4, etc. I have three 4s builds that use that battery. I was looking to get a spare and see that itís no longer on their website. Iím kind of bummed because the magical combination of the udr motor/esc and 2888x allows the Rustl4r to push its limit but stays within the traxxas ecosystem.

Anyone else knows what the story is behind it disappearing? There is still a blank page for it on traxxas website.

Something is definitely up but it could be their website too.

    But Rc planet has one/some.

    Vortex hobbies shows some too.

China is where Lipos are produced. Iíd assume the pandemic has things shutdown and itís catching up to everything.

The battery links you gave are for 3s batteries and also a different part#. The OP asked about the 2888x 4s battery.

The Traxxas site is working again. It does look like they discontinued that battery. It's not in the battery listing.

Well, it looks like heís gonna have to come up with something different by means of an aftermarket battery to that discontinued one or modify his battery compartment then because after doing a little bit of searching myself, I see why he wants that particular battery because of how long it is and the only other Traxxas battery that I could find that was even close to that size that was the same as everything else, was the 2889X which is like an inch longer than what he wants.

I donít know, maybe itíd be a wise thing to do that chat online thing with one of the traxxas reps to see if they can find him a replacement battery that will fit in that location without having to alter anything.

Ah thank you. I will check those out.

Thanks guys for the input. I think looked at some smc 4c batteries but they are I think 139mm so juuuuust too long, I guess makes sense since traxxas is one of the few out there making semi soft case Lipos.

My long term plan is to replace the battery bar with Velcro straps so I can use 2 2/3 cell battery’s since the vxl-6s came with two connectors in series.

Another option might be to 'update' your rustler 4x4 to use the 'long-format' chassis (and thus longer batteries):
    https://traxxas.com/news/choosing-batteries-rustler-4x4 (scroll to the bottom)
I'm guessing that there are 4S long-format batteries that will work for your application.
This change from shorty-to-long batteries does not seem to have been communicated too loudly (at least it came as a bit of a surprise to me).

Holy cow I had no idea. Yep, that would solve it for sure. Thank you BillJ!
