    New Traxxas Owner

New to the Traxxas community and starting off with the X-Maxx. Why wouldn't I? After weeks of researching the vast sea of options in the rc world, it was difficult to ignore the x-maxx. The incredible price has me placing it on the shelf for a few weeks so I can save up to get some batteries. This gives me a good bit of time to read the manual and learn how to take good care of it.

    What upgrades do members recommend?

I believe pro-line tires may be my first upgrade. Not really a fan of the stock tires.

The front end obviously take a lot of abuse.

I put RPM green arms on the front. Gonna put metal gears in the stock servo. Installing a metal servo horn. I am gonna stay stock with most of the rest drive train for now.

Tbone racing makes some great bumpers and skid plates. I have the full set including the a- arm skid plates.

Reinforce the body, particularly the truck bed and body mounts. I used Gorilla tape.

Yes, I understand it can be frustrating when a newbie comes in and asks a question that has been answered over and over. I have had my hand slapped a few times early in my time here. Best to click and move on. Plus your link results in:

Run it first then decide on upgrades. It is a lot of fun stock. It does take a beating and still drives away. Once you start upgrading, depending on what you want it can start adding up in price. So far I only upgraded the servo, as the stock one died.

IMHO If you don't have enough funds for batteries hold off and try it using it stock first. The bigger the vehicle, the more expensive they are. Either to fix and repair, or upgrade.
