Motor to run 2S Lip

Have a pre-runner and need to replace the spur gear. I have a 2S batt and as we know it burns up motor. Is there a direct swap to allow to run 2S without burning up motor or is this just going to lead to breaking other drivetrain parts. If so, I will just run the nimh batt. Thanks!!!

I upgraded to the Hobbywing brushless setup, and so far, it's a blast. If anything, it's been a little too powerful.
