Upgrading the motor, esc, and steering servo will improve your crawling capabilities but it will not make you better.
Learn your truck, the terrain you drive on, and the style you drive. Once you have that knowledge, then start upgrading.
Some more rocky terrain today

Looks like your having a fun time. Rocks and mud are definitely different setups. Rocks you go slow with control and mud is about flotation with wheel speed.
Some action today.

Wanted some tips on how I can climb these, just get wheel spin.
Then I eventually managed to jump up to here.
Another classic example of elevation I cannot climb.

If your car gets stuck, try turning the front wheels, while applying throttle, slowly at first, and if that doesn't work, give it some more wheelspeed and turn the front wheel. One thing that I do is to take off the body and rock crawl hard parts without the body. Then I try again (same path, same place) with the body on. Also, I think the terrain is a bit unrealistic for a top and rear heavy truck, maybe go with something less jagged or steep? If you want to performance crawl, it would be much easier if you had a lighter body. Just my opinion, though.
Good luck!

Ive found that the Canyon Trails are pretty good tires for stock.
took a dremel to my stock canyon trails and grooved them.
I also started to remove the little nubs on the center lugs. Tedious job so I only did the outers and I’ll finish it this winter.
They do very well on my slick granite rock walls at home. This is compared to Hyraxes and Landmines in the same walls.
I’d have no problems running them if that’s all I could have.
Might be an option to consider since it doesn’t cost anything except time.
ETA - I would get rid of the spare tire in the rear. It looks like that’s hanging you up in the picture.
Those would be my attempts at easy improvements.

Some rocks today

It was an improvement. Tires still spun on the rocks but not as bad as when bone stock.
I still have them on stock rims and foams.
I’ll break them out every so often and I’m still able to run where my hyraxes and Landmines go. Maybe a little more effort with the CTs.
So I’m definitely not being held back using them.
Very underrated imo.
IMO cutting the stock tires is a massive improvement on the rocks. It was one of the best mods i think i have done. I just sat down with some snips and cut all 4 next day i went out and was hitting lines that seemed impossible just a few days prior.
also that 5000 3s battery is wayyyyy overkill. a small 2200 3s changes that thing on the rocks like you would not believe. I use on that big when out on the trails and its fun to drive forever, but on the hard rocks it just flops on its back all day.
Interesting. It maybe a job for one of those long winter days!

Ditto on the stock tire snipping. I also star cut the stock foams and that combo was a major improvement. The foam cutting decreases the side hilling somewhat due to the sidewalls will roll a little but the tire grip on any type of course rock surface is way better. FYI, put the tires on a piece of foil wrap and in the oven at 350 for about 10 minutes and the glued tires came off very easy so I could cut the foams.
Iam definitely keep to improve the performance with climbing, yesterday there was line which I walked all the way it was just not driveable.
Rather than snipping my wheels I would prefer buying something that is made for strenuous climbing.
I believe we need something that sticks to the rocks like glue?

Proline hyrax tires work pretty well. It might rub on the body when turning, since it has edges that stick out more than stock.

What seems to be the problem here, the performance is gone downhill, cannot crawl at all.

I posted a climb a while back , which seemed impossible to do and I thought let’s try it with the chassis only.
Someone on this thread said they do that to understand what the trx4 is actually capable of if had the right weight body.
