Bandit Velineon System in the E-Revo?

Hello, I am taking the Velineon system out of my Bandit (to make a spec class dirt oval racer). What are everyone's thoughts on putting it in the MERV? I REALLY love the look of the Revo. Would mainly be bashing on ball diamonds and parking lots. Pros, cons, etc. Any and all advice is appreciated!

    Welcome to Traxxas forums!

I might eventually try to do that. You would probally need to change the gearing? Maybe a new motor mount? You might need to relocate some things to make it fit. Cool project! Tell us how it goes.

I think it should drop right in, motor at least ecs may need some mods to mount.

I want to say any 1/10th scale motor will drop right in on a Merv with a 550titan. 2s capable may be able to keep stock esc

Center of gravity will be higher.

Crazy speed and power if on 3s.
Will probably have to play with gearing. And know things will break more.

Definitely will want to shim your diffs.

What about my old MERV, not the 2.0? It has the smalller titan 380 motor in it right now.

The smaller 380 brushless motor used a different motor mount. You would need the brushed 550 motor mount. The brushed mount fits the bigger motors. It's what some call a "Big Block Mount".

Okay, thanks! That makes sense. It would be nice to do the upgrade sense I have the old xl-2.5 that can't take lipos.

Does the bigger motor mount fit in the original non 2.0 MERV?

Yes. The 380 brushed motor setup is the same as the 380 brushless motor setup.

You would need the motor mount, motor mount plate, and gear cover if you want to cover the gears. With those you can install the bigger motors.

    Motor mount part#7360
    Motor plate part#7380
    Gear cover part#7379R

I thought of doing the same. Wondering what battery life would be like?

Was thinking about it as well since I have the Velineon system from my 1/10 Slash 4x4 Platinum sitting in my parts bin. Would I still be able to use my HR sway bar kit? Doesn’t look like it the motor would fit with it installed.

I know this thread is a little old, but I thinking what if I used my 1/10 2s 5000 mah lipo in the merv? It would have good runtime, just not sure how it would fit.

I'm fairly certain it wouldn't fit at all. But where there is a will there is a way.

You can stuff 2x 2200mah 2s batteries in but not a single 5000mah.
