Slash 4x4 Ultimate MM2 esc 2400kv CC motor gearing

What gearing are you guys using in a Sl4sh 2400kv 3S for bashing stock tires, MIP Xduty f/r?

    Thanks,

It really depends on what your goals are and what your environment is like. Are you doing speed runs on the street or bashing up-hill through grass? Is your ambient temperature warm or cold?

I suggest starting with a lower gearing. Something like 18/54 or even 17/54. If you aren't hitting thermal shutdown on the ESC and your motor temps are also good, then consider moving up one tooth on the pinion. Repeat.

Summit, I run the CC2400 in a 4 x 4 Rustler with 15/54 gearing. On 3s that gearing works for what i do which is mostly bashing but some occasional "track" racing against guys in our club. My driveshafts are Tekno all around with 17mm hex adapter so I can run more tire options. Borderline uncontrollable when you throw a 4S battery but in it but the power is awesome!

I ran my MM2 ESC and Traxxas/CC2200kV motor on 3S with 20/50 gearing.
    No complaints from me.

Best to get an IR temp gun and check your temps for where and how you drive your rig.

    Test... test... test...

I usually bash in grass or gravel, usually jumps and the like. I'm just more looking for a starting point once I put the final touches on my Sl4sh. Already have a temp gun

What are you guys running for tires? Again, just looking for input/ideas...

    Thanks for the input,

I run the X-Dutys on both my rigs with different power systems and have had no problems:
    MM2 w/2200, MMX w/ 2200, RX8 Gen3 w/2250. All with 3S and 4S LiPos.

I have MIP X-duty and the CC 2400kv motor on it's way. Just curious how the stocks would hold up if the motor came first. LoL

They will hold up if you go extremely easy on it. If you hammer on the throttle, they will break.

If you lightly breath on the throttle... lol!

I run 3S with 20/54 in my slampede with 2.8 trenchers, MIP x-duty's, 150A BLX185 esc and hpi torq 4074 2200kv. I also have a tekno big bone center shaft. I busted a couple of the alloy tubes before I even put in the 1/8th scale stuff. Also have a FLM center diff cup, plastic spur and 300K oil in it with 50k or 100k in the front/rear diffs, can't recall. Probably 50k. Could probably bump it up to 500k in the center now that it's lengthened. That was too much when it was stampede length. Just wheelied all the time, which is what I was trying to calm down once I switched to 3S running.

I ran 20/54 in it the last time I ran at the grass bmx, but the temps were ok. Will probably do better now, if the grass is still short. It was shorter last weekend when I went there than when I shot this:

I installed the rears last night, and I also installed a ERBE slipper clutch. Motor was picked up from LHS. So hopefully tonight I'll get the fronts installed and the 2400kv motor.

What gears are you running in there? Just remember to use your IR temp gun and take readings every 5 minutes on where and how you drive. Adjust as necessary. Test test test.... then have fun!

Remember that you need to keep the MIP X-Duty axles in phase for them to work properly.

What do you mean "in phase to work properly" El Sob? I know that the holes on each end of the axles have to line up an each axle, but I thought that meant only on each axle. So do you mean that both sides need to line up? Left side and right all 4 holes have to line up?

You only need to worry about each axle itself. Each axle would be from the differential to the wheel. You don't need to worry about the left side axle compared to the right side axle going from left wheel to diff to right wheel.

Has to be in-phase on each side individually. Can’t do it side-to-side unless you are running a diff eliminator (solid axle).

Safe so far. No evacuations for us, but some friends a little north from us are on stand-by. We can see the fires on the mountainside from home.

Air quality is bad and ash is covering everything outside. I am dreading cleaning out the pool and filter once this is over. We used to only put our masks on when going out to shop or pick up food because of Covid-19. Now we put masks on anytime we go out just to breath without inhaling ash!

One good thing about all the smoke is that the sun is somewhat obscured and less intense so it is cooler outside...

Zoom in and you can see the sun this evening at 6:13pm:

I finally finished installing my X-Duty shafts. Why does it seem to take longer than I think it should? Now I have to install the motor and link everything togethere, probably take me another week to get it done.

    How is everyone doing south?
