    UDR Tires

Quick question for UDR owners (or tire/wheel gurus):
Do the beads on the tires for the UDR fit standard short course wheels?

Just wondering since I have ideas running around in my head...

    Thanks!

It may fit by a few millimeters.

Here's a few pictures with a rough estimate of the measurement:

    Hope this helps!

Thank you for the measurements. I was more worried about the bead matching.

I already purchased Pro-Line’s URD Hyrax and DE Racing’s 17mm Trinidad S/C wheels. Looks like they should fit, but I couldn’t get the tire’s bead to sit in the wheel. I haven’t had time to really work on it yet, but thought I’d ask before I get really frustrated.

Maybe I’ll give Pro-Line (or AMain) a call tomorrow.

I really wanted a 17mm beadlock S/C wheel for this project...

I just received an e-mail from Kimberly at AMain. She said:

Thank you for your inquiry. The UDR tires are UDR specific only. The short course wheels are a different size. Please let us know if we can be of further assistance.

Oh well.... back to the drawing board.

    Edit:
I guess it's time to order Nomad DB8 tires to put on my 17mm Trinidad wheels.
I hope someone comes out with 17mm wheels for the UDR Hyrax tires. I really like them.

Just wondering... what are you planning to do?

Proline also makes the Hyrax for the regular short course size:

I wanted to put them on my basher and make it look more like a rock racer. Maybe kinda Lasernut-esque.
The smaller Hyrax would fit the wheels, but not have the look I'm going for.

Check out Pro-Line's 2.2/3.0 BF Goodrich A/T KO2. They're slightly taller than your average S/C tire, and the perform great off-road. They look awesome too.

My son has them on his Yeti, and I keep trying to think of ways to fit them on my UDR.

Take a look at the Baja T/A KR2s, they also fit the regular short course wheels, and are pretty chunky for their size.

Also, if you really want the UDR tires, you could try installing a 17mm hex adapter and then add the premounted UDR tires.

The UDR Hyrax looked perfect on my basher. Just couldn't get the beads fo fit the wheels.

Thanks, the 2.2/3.0 BF Goodrich A/T KO2 looks good, but has a 4.74" diameter (same as the S/C Hyrax tires... 4..75"). The tires for the Nomad DB8 has a 5.25" diameter. The UDR Hyrax has a 5.30" diameter.

I am going to order the Nomad tires and hope that someone eventually releases a 17mm hub wheel for the UDR tires.

    Thanks!

I have 17mm hex on my rig. The UDR has a 17mm hex, but the hole through the wheel is smaller (5mm?).

That thing looks gangster! Good job on the tires.

Even though the Yeti itself was a poorly executed vehicle, the cage is rad. I love fitting the Yeti cage onto other 1/10 scale vehicles.

Thanks! Can't wait to try them out!

I will also be setting up the Nomad tires and Trinidad wheels as a back-up. These will be easier to do since there would be no tire "surgery" to deal with.

    Have fun!
