ESC cooling fan that doesn't apart?

I bought a Traxxas ESC 3s fan, part 3340, not even a year ago. Is there a better option than that? Traxxas won't warranty it. As you can see, my fan decided to part ways with the motor. Is it repairable? I put it back in but it came back apart. Thanks!

I've been using mine for about 5 or 6 months now and it still works good.

I would say yeah racing or hot racing. Those would probably be the best places to look for a quality fan that won't break the bank.

Yeah unfortunately the cooling fan sucks. I've never had one fail in that manner, but I did have two that each broke a fan blade simply because a twig or leaf got stuck. Thankfully there are plenty of aftermarket fans available.

Another thing you might consider is adding some protection. I bought a spare roll of aluminum screen-door material from the local hardware store. For my fans, I simply cut a small square section of the screen-door material and zip-tie it over the top of the fan. Stops debris from getting stuck in the fan.

Thanks for the replies... I can't really find any fans that don't have complaints about blades breaking off. I'll just have to keep looking. I think my fan broke when the car landed on it's roof, but it was in grass and not a very hard landing. I can put the blade in and it will spin, I may try to come up with a way to keep it in place.

Yeah, you have to get a bit more creative with the vxl-3s fan though. It's like a 30x30x7 fan. A 30x30x10 won't lock into the holder very well, if at all. Been a while since I had mine apart.

Or you can get something like this, then bolt a good 30mm aluminum fan on it:

I run the hobbystar 30mm fans on 3 of my trucks. They seem to hold up for quite a while and push a ton of air. They look similar to that protek fan.

Had to fiddle with them a bit to put them in my max6 esc's and to bolt them to the dual fan cooler since they are a bit wider than plastic 30mm fans.

So just fyi, the only thing holding the fan in the motor is a tiny o ring. Luckily mine was still there, so I was able to put the blade back in. I'll let you guys know if it works next time I run it.
