Dying parts

Has anyone tried dying white Traxxas parts such as 3655A with satisfactory results?

Long video short: Get "Rit" brand dye, boil water in a stainless steel pot. Add the dye. Submerge the car for 10 minutes. Rinse the parts. Repeat if coloring is not as desired (too light).

Note: The plastic needs to be porous, not sheen. Your use case is fine.

Have you actually done this with the part I described? I've dyed chassis, and other grey parts, but after I posted this question, I contacted Traxxas, and was told the white parts are not dyable. If someone has proven this wrong, I'll give it a try too.
