    Spring question

    Hey folks. I'm an erbe noob and I was just wondering if someone could help with the traxxas spring rates. I know they are color coded but I don't know which ones are the softest and which ones are the stiffest. I'm also wondering where I can get some various bottles of shock oil. I would like to swap out the springs for stiffer ones but I bought the car used and I don't know what color they used.

    It's in the revo manuals. The v2 only shows the springs to use with 90mm rockers (p1,p2,p3), but the v1 manual shows you the list for both the 90mm and 120mm (LT) rockers:

    I usually just order oil as needed, but I try to stick with the same brand so when I change up or down in weight, it's consistant. Not all brands are the same, so staying within one brand gives you more predictable results. I usually order associated brand oil as they have a lot of various weights. Hudy is another.

    This is my current setup on my ERBEv2:
    P2 rockers/rods
    70w AE VDK #3 front
    50w AE #2 standard rear
    RCRaven Springs

    I had VDK on the rear, but after splitting the piston the 3rd time, I decided to just use stock pistons and a bit lighter oil. I was using 60wt and VDK #2.

    Thanks! Sorry for being such a noob but what I'd VDK? I'm sure its probably pretty obvious but for some reason I can't seem to figure it out.

    VDK = Variable Damping Kit

    4 hole pistons for the GTR shocks that have a reed valve in them to cover up 2 of the holes. You can put the disk so 2 of the holes are covered on compression but the force of oil opens the valve on extension, so you can run a bit thicker oil with lighter springs than what would be required for quick extension.

    My issue with them is that they seem to split more easily than standard pistons. They usually split down the edge of the recess where the reed valve fits.

    What color rc raven springs are you using? I was thinking about picking up a couple of different options since I was able to find them on Amazon for $10 for a complete set of 4

    I got the blue and silver ones. I don't think it matters, they are all the same weight. The powder coating has started chipping on my blue ones, so I'd suggest getting the chrome ones. I'm assuming they won't chip.
