guys i think this 1515 is a fake castle
this motor has white red and black motor wires all castle have all black
i got a email back from castle tech service and i was told that
so this one is going in the dumpster.
looking at the hobbywing 4274 1/8 motor now
this crap motor may be all the problem
4-pole motors do tend to be "notchy" as you describe. It's normal. The "notchy" feeling is stronger with a larger motor because the magnets are larger. You might perceive that as feeling almost like there there is some drag brake, especially if you are coming from a smaller motor or a 2-pole motor.
Is your 1515 motor sensored or sensorless? The newer sensored version uses black wires. The older sensorless version uses red, black, and white wires. There is nothing wrong with the older version as long as you don't require sensored operation.
I use the older sensorless version. It has black, white, and red wires and is certainly not fake.

Hey man
Thanks this one is sensorless I bought it from Amazon 2 years ago
Tonite I pulled it apart to check if something is wrong but all looked ok put it back together and works a small bit better
I don't know but maybe I am wrong with going 1/8 scale.
Soon as the proline wheels show I think I will go back to my mamba max pro and the 3800 kv motor
All the youtube I watch with a 1515 sounds like normal brushless motors. This price of junk does not it sounds like a v8 down a cylinder
What. Better 1/8 motors should I look for

I like high speed jumps with 40+ feet of distance... if landed wrong, yeah, it's bad, but after you land a few times, it's pretty easy to repeat. It's those bad landings when you caught wind or a bump in the ground that end bad... but that could happen on flat ground as well at 50mph.![]()

You're not wrong. I hit a tiny bit of tar going at least 50mph with my slash 2wd when i first got it, and it took quite a fall. Crashing going that fast can be just as bad as landing after a 40ft fall.
It all depends on where the impact is mostly.

guys the badlands and the trenchers just arrived and they look killer
also got my second lipo so here goes the build
Today I mounted the proline trenchers 2.8 and they are one of the best looking and scale right on tires . It does look like a monster truck but just a badass looking sct . Even the body fits with just a little trim of the rear wheel opening.
Thank you guys for the proline info I am very happy with these .
The badlands are also good but trenchers look just a touch better
I forgot to mention I changed gearing to 26/45 and on 4s with the trenchers it will hold the front tires about 3 inches off the ground unless you give it full power then it will drag the rear bumper. But on 3s it will not so this esc and motor needs power so 6s it is.
I mentioned this before when I bought the hobbywing max8 esc it was wired for 2 batteries I cut them off for 1 deans maybe it really does need more power.
How to post a picture here?
here is a picture of my slash
nope sorry
nothing i do will post a image

You have to have your pictures hosted by a 3rd party. I use https://cubeupload.com/ for mine.
here goes round 2
ok this worked thank you zedorda
see how the trenchers fit the slash body just some trim on the rear wheel opening
this looks so good slash 4x4 should have come this way

I bought a deans y and series 2 batteries 3s for 6s
I am going to try this on 25.4 volts tomorrow
guys i tried this today and man this has power crazy strong and fast like i have never seen before
i ordered a stainless motor plate to locate the motor above the drive shaft for larger pinions and a strc motor chassis block with a larger bearing.
i notice the plastic motor area is deflecting a bit under this load. when i check pinion you can see the gears are wearing more to one side.
