So this was sarcasm? But I don't see why. The design seems good to me and has been proven to work so far.

Also, yours being straight proves nothing. This mod is for those who jump their X-Maxxes very high. I would suggest it's not worth bothering with if you've not bent your stock one, unless you want to build the truck to cope with anything in anticipation of doing big jumps.

The chassis is pretty rigid, and to bend the driveshaft you'd have to make it flex a fair bit, so that's going to take a pretty hard landing.

I was skeptical myself as well but had a neighbor that has am xmaxx 8s and he bent his driveshaft 2 times jumping some high jumps. So I made him one of the center driveshaft braces with bearings and he has been jumping the same high jumps and is telling me no issues yet after 4 days straight.

I don't know if I can get in toruble for offering these on here but I am making some cool parts for the Xmaxx and selling on facebook group.

If you map out the traxxas parts in cost of the OP design, it lands around $35 USD. Which means the cost of the 3d printed center support materials and machine usage, labor, and gross margin is $44 USD. How expensive that is to you depends on how much you value your time to build it yourself and if you own the machinery to make it. Good for them for building a product that is useful.

Agreed, I think $80 is a fair price, designer and parts maker deserves to profit from his time/energy. If it's too expensive c'mon XMaxx is almost $1000 plus spares and some mods. I hate breaking parts on a summer evening when there's time for one more battery and now I gotta fix it, but by then it'll be dark lol.

That other 'fix' is not a good mod, dart it or case it really hard and shaft will still bend. I've bent shafts in my Slash 4x4, but not yet in X-Maxx.

Thanks for bumping this thread. Ebay gave me a $30 discount on this OPs center drive shaft and I bit. The parts are well done, although I admit one of the shafts provided needed the end to be sanded a bit to be as smooth as I preferred. The action works well.

The center bearing and splined connector is actually just the same connector that fits on rear end of the drive shaft (so you could actually just buy this and the bearing from traxxas or lhs if you wanted). The only piece of this kit that you probably cannot do at home is the 3d printed piece that secures it all to the chassis.

I went the extra mile and added rubber o-rings to the center splined connector to cut down on extra clinking sounds.

I would like to try to make this setup like you described, I found the plastic piece, but I cannot find the splined connector in the parts list, any chance you know which traxxas part number that splined connector is? All of the ones I found have a pinion end and a splined end. Thank you for your help.

Unfortunately, you have to buy a stock driveshaft to get the double ended spline. It comes in the same bag
