I charged my merv battery and it was fine, then I charged it again and it lasted 5, it rotates between 15 and 5 min doing the same things. What is wrong? I’m charging on the 2amp charger with the adapter. I think it’s the battery because my other battery is fine.

*update:* So I was out ripping my merv around with the battery and now it’s like 5min for a few charges and takes 40min to charge and then 15min also 40min charge time. Is this fixable? What is wrong? What causes this?
Thanks in advance

So I did some research and because the battery won’t hold its charge I just need to wire it to my other battery for a few seconds then charge it and I should be good. Does that sound right? I’m not 100% sure if that’s right but I’ll try.

I'm confused as to what your having a problem with.
Is this with one battery or two batteries?
Are you saying that your NiMh battery will run for 5min and charge for 40min and sometimes the same battery will run for 15min and still take 40min to charge?
Yes it’s very wierd, I’d show you but to take an hour vid it would take forever to upload. 1 battery. So it charged but doesn’t hold the charge for the time it should.

A possibility? Check that your ESC is in NiMh mode when the run time is 5min. If the LVC is turned on it could think the battery is a LiPo and tell you its dead.
Yes so it’s in nimh mode (or at least I think it is) the LED on the ESC is red which means nimh mode. Do I need a new battery? Do you need anything other than a charger for a 3S lipo? eg a heatsink or fan
What is your opinion? NiMH, 2s or 3s?

Myself, I prefer LiPo batteries. They offer better performance and greater mah capacity, but they also require greater care than NiMh.
IMHO: If your new to rc'ing go with the 2s lipo batteries. The 3s batteries can break parts much easier. The 2s LiPo batteries will make the mini's (Traxxas 1/16) more reliable.
I have 2 cars but I’ve been rcing for a few years.
Ok I will look at 2s’
