Hey guys
The servo ate parts of it’s gearing a second time.
As background:
The car is running on Velineon 3500/ VXL-3s and NiMh with 2.8 badlands (so much bigger/ heavier than stock).
Now I have different options:
1. Go plastic again. 5$
2. Go metal. 20$ = needs to survive 4x longer than plastic
3. Upgrade to 2075 R/X (same price, metal gears). 60$ = needs to survive 12x longer than plastic or 3x longer than the 2075 with upgraded metal gears
4. Go for a different brand and get “a 2075 R/X” for a lower price.
Target is having a rugged one. Speed doesn’t really matter as the kiddos bash around and will not know the difference... and their driving style is not really clean either way 😂
What would you do?
I would go with a new metal-geared servo for this one. The 2075X/R are essentially the 2075 servo, except the metal gears and different colored casings, so it's not really worth it to specifically go for them. Power HD makes great 20kg servos for around $20 and the speed is decent too:

I second the Power HD suggestion...great servosaver, powerful, low-priced, metal gears...plus, most of them are waterproof.

After putting monster tires on my 2wd slash i stripped the plastic gears right away. I decides to get the metal gear set for it and it worked really good for like 4 months and then it just stopped all together.
Then i bought the ecopower wp110t. It's metal, waterproof, and was only 40. It has decent torque ratings for the price too. Its held up just fine for me. I used tsm on it too for quite a while.

I put these Savox gears in my 2075 servo, and haven't had any problems. Direct fit.

In regards to Power HD: blue = water proof, red = not?!

I think so...

Ok, just ordered a Power HD and will grab a plastic gear set tomorrow. So I have the plastic one as replacement in my tool bag and will see how long the Power HD keeps up.
Thanks!
