    Velineon Motor failed?

    Hello,
I have adjusted the slipper clutch, adjusted the pinion/spur gear mesh and have doubled checked the pinion set screw is tight and I get no movement, just noise.
I take the motor out of the merv and it turns but I can put my thumb on the gear and the motor still turns while the pinion is held still, the shaft does not even turn but inside the motor it sounds like it is turning.
Am I missing something or has the motor reached the end of it's life cycle? I wouldn't have thought that you could hold the pinion gear and the motor kept spinning, it can take no resistance. Would never move if parked on an angle.

    Any input would be awesome!

    Thanks,
    K.

The rotor magnet has come loose from the shaft. It might be possible to repair by re gluing it? It might also be possible to replace the rotor assembly in the motor. I know you can buy them for the larger 3500 motors. Not sure about the 1/16 ones. Have you talked to Traxxas about it?

    Just checked the parts list:

The replacement rotor is Traxxas 3373 about $40 shipped
The rebuild kit is Traxxas 3372 about $13 (new bearings, shims and screws)

Is the pinion loose? There is a grub screw that holds them on, that could be loose or missing.

3373 no longer available from TRAXXAS.
    Thanks though.

Applied red lock tite to shaft. Will see if this works.
Will keep everyone posted on outcome.
    Thanks for all the help!

I did find them on ebay.
According to my local HS they are discontinued. Just have to order from ebay or right from Traxxas.
    Thanks for your help.

Hopefully that red loctite will hold and save you some money. If not you might also be able to try some epoxy. I have seen a few people try that.

Not sure how red loctite will work.

If I had to try to fix, I would try Loctite 640 Sleeve Retainer.

609 would be ideal, incase you or someone else is looking for a solution. 640 will work though.
