Hand-made Spartan boat trailer back in 2012..I think that was one of my first posts on this forum..It is long gone now..the wheel covers were made from thin gauge aluminum diamond plate..

Maybe you can see it thru the photobucket mess..lol

Yes, it was also a Snap-on edition Stampede but I had original body and Red wheels on shelf in storage..

I used the original boat stand pieces to design the trailer..here you can see the boat stand pieces incorporated into the trailer cross-members...

That's so cool. I'm thinking about making a trailer. Some girl did a series on her making one

I say give it a shot...just look around at RC trailers you see for sale or online to give yourself some ideas..several different aspects of each trailer can be designed into yours...for some reason RC trailers are super pricey when actually they are one of the easiest things to build if you keep it rather simple..

The V hull was a little more time to build because I wanted my boat to sit as low as possible..I opted for using the Traxxas boat stand parts because the V hull was staggered on the bottom and not a smooth hull..the boat stand already had the hull outline molded into it..that kept me from having to create the profile out of paper/cardboard and transfer it to some other material..
Many boat trailer builds just have two rails perched up one on each side..very effective for holding the boat and trailering but it tends to make the boat sit very high off the ground and high off the trailer..that lends itself to losing the scale look making the tow vehicle and trailer look as if they are different scales.

Don't lock yourself into one design or a single material..some materials are much easier to work with than others

    Good luck...

Here is my hat in this ring...

I bought this home made trailer for a decent price, but it needed some TLC. I cleaned it up and installed parts I downloaded off of Thingiverse, this was before I had any design skills. In this shape it didn't look too bad, but the axles were terrible and sounded like hamsters stuck in a trap.

After getting some confidence in designing my own parts, I ripped this thing completely apart, and rebuilt it with my own axles.

This was how there were before I rebuilt them... pretty cheesy...

And, after. They roll nice, smooth, and true..

Nice tongue jack and great use of a threaded rod end for trailer connection

Now, stop goofing around in this thread and get that M8 crane thingy done!

Here we go again with the awesome 3d printed stuff. I love it!!!

I guess I never even thought about making a trailer for my rc vehicles. Probably because it would just become a twisted mess of plastic/metal with my driving.

Man I wish I had the tools to do this. I really don't want to spend what they cost for a new one.
