    cooling fans for 800kv

I am building an x maxx with a max 5 and 800kv system. Are upgraded cooling fans necessary for the motor and esc. I keep seeing builds with crazy fan setups that run off 4s.

I run mine without a fan. No issues geared at 30/30. The motor if very efficient.

But if needed this fits on a 800kv nice.

    Then add 40mm fans

Thinking about doing the 800kv upgrade as well, how well does the drive train hold up to this power? I feel like the drive cups would get eaten bad.

I ordered some drive cup sleeves from wfo. I think that should help.

Drive cup sleeves are a must. The stock cups will last about a month without them, but after a while you’ll snap them on upgraded power.

The rest of the drivetrain does surprisingly well. No need for the cushdrive, as that will be replaced by to solid gears (8mm motor shaft)

I use computer fans, 80x80mm, it works between 6/12 volts, if you use a UBEC for higher voltages.

I ended up getting a nice set of fans off ebay. Do you guys who have motor fans power them off the balance port or have a separate battery? I was thinking of using some 1400mah 3s batteries with a low voltage alarm attached.
