    Proline Bodies

So I just got a new Proline body for my slash, but I was wondering how durable they are, if anyone has experience with them. Im trying to figure out if I can use it as a bashing body, or if I should just keep it as an extra.

It depends on the body. Which one did you buy?

I havenít been in the RC game long but I did just paint up a Proline Flotek last month and Iíd say itís not any more or less durable than the stock Traxxas lexan. I bash in the yard, gravel lots, asphalt. You name it. I do not race though.

Thatís said, I have scratches in all the same places as a stock body. I enforced all the same areas with gaff tape and Goop that I did my stock lexan bodies and I havenít noticed any difference in terms of durability.

I did noticed that my normal lexan prep was not good enough as I have a lot of paint chipping and peeling going on. I typically wash the body twice with a sponge and dish soap before painting. So maybe the proline lexan holds the mold releasing compounds a bit more that the Traxxas lexan.

Thanks. I think im gonna try and run it and see what happens. If anything, there's not much a little superglue and duct tape cant fix. Or im gonna put drywall tape on the inside before I bash it. Ive heard that helps too.

I'll try the goop method first like you said, that does sound like it would do the trick. Thanks for the help, ill come back with an update once I test it out.

If you're cheap like me you can use gorilla tape on the inside instead of goo and drywall tape. It works good for me. I mostly just do around the bottom edge and especially the wheel wells and rear bumper area. These places tend to crack and tear the most in my experience. At around 10 bucks a roll that tape is amazing and worth having in your tool box for any number of things. Sometimes I even hit it with a hairdryer/heat gun after installing it to make sure it's super stuck on.

I might do that then, because I dont have goop at my house right now, but I already have gorilla tape.

Oh, how I wish I could afford the Bash Armor bodies. Not a lot of racing to be had around here. I just want to get out and burn through some batteries.

Proline has an issue going on. Something about silicoke leftbon the body after the molding process. Some say to use dawn blue dish soap and even rubbing alcohol better. I can link a thread if you like on it.

As for proline bodies, they make nice thick revo size monster bodies, but I noticed the short course bodies are thinner.

Interesting to hear. Again, I haven’t been in the RC game long and I chalked up the bad paint job to my inexperience. I’ll clean the next one before painting it up.

    Proline Bodies

Hmm. Something is definitely not right over at Proline [emoji23]

Hereís what my new less than a month old Proline lexan looks like underneath. Again, outside is scratched like normal use and I just noticed while taking these photos thereís a crack in the rear right quarter panel.

Again, followed all the instructions on Prolines site, YouTube channel etc. Obviously I didnít wash it well enough.

@OP - I donít want this to keep you from buying Proline, but proceed with caution [emoji6]

Mine turned out pretty good actually, and if I can figure out how to post pictures on here, I would share a pic of it.

The masking didn't fully keep all the paint out of the edges, but im happy with it

What did you back the body with? There appears to be some white or silver showing through. This happened on my first body I every painted as well, so all it means is that you need more coats on the main color layer. As for the masks, just make sure that you have the edges of the masks completely smoothed down and don't mess with masks while the paint is still wet.

Alright thanks for the advice. This was the first body I ever painted. I was planning on going through it and touching a few spots up.

Looks good. I did the same body and colors on my Nitro Stampede.

For your next body, this may help you.

If your paint flakes off, you can look at vinyl wraps also. 1x5 ft sheet roughly $8 on ebay.
