What Other Bodies for the Telly?

Clear Telluride bodies are nowhere to be found. What other bodies would you suggest? I was thinking about a JConcepts stadium truck body. Lower profile, truckish looking.

    https://www.jconcepts.net/shop/illuz...stler-xl5-body

    Or perhaps a Ford Raptor?

    https://www.jconcepts.net/shop/illuz...aptor-svt-body

I actually prefer pick up trucks to SUV's. I've never been a fan of SUV's so it's probably just as well that Telly bodies are no longer available.

Believe it or not, I found a brand new, clear, still in the bag Telluride body last week! Bought it just in case too.

That said, short of going to Stampede bodies if you want a pickup that fits the stock wheelbase but not quite as scale looking or swapping to a Slash 4x4 or Hoss chassis to use longer bodies may about be the only choice any more. All of the short scale bodies seem to have dried up and ones like the Axial Deadbolt bodies are a little longer than the Hoss is.

Proline made a body that was mentioned as possible to use as a telluride body but looks like they discontinued it, perhaps some places still have some old stock. I got mine from ebay a year or so ago. Maybe set an alert or something for when something with reasonable shipping cost becomes available.

I would buy a Telly body if I could find one. I'll peruse fleabay for one.

I’ve seen one of those mounted up some years back, it was a near perfect fit too.

I took last Friday off for a doctor’s appointment and went to a hobby shop a little ways youth of that office and found the one I bought there by accident and figured it would be good to grab even though I didn’t “need” it for mine yet.

That was an expensive day too, between my purchases there (around $80, half was this body), getting the plate sticker for my daily ($151 and good for a year), and because my insurance through work is garbage I had to pay the full cost of the appointment ($136), then burned up 1/2 a tank of E85 from the running around on top of that!

I found a clear body in Europe. I'm waiting to hear back on a shipping price from them. I've decided I am just going to Use my stampede 4X4 as a shapeshifter project. I took an inventory of parts that I have, and discovered that I actually need a lot more parts than I had anticipated previously. I don't want to spend the money to build an entire new truck

I'm going to 1st use it as a truggy to go and race at my local track, Then I will turn it into a Telly and take it to my local rock crawling course, All the while using the same motor and Esc with different gearing of course.

I have 2 different sets of pitbull Short course tires. The black rimmed tires are soft, And the yellow rimmed tires are the komp kompound, Which is ultra soft. I also have a set of proline bead locks with trenchers on them which are currently on my Slash 2WD.

All of my wheels are 0 offset which will Make the track width on the Telly a little more narrow. I will be using Slash 2WD rear a arms on all 4 corners just because I have them already.

The Zero offset is what I’m running on mine, but with the Proline SCT beadlocks and old M3 compound Trenchers with HPI soft open cell SCT foam inserts. With the stock width arms, it pulls the wheels further under the flares on the body and looks more scale.

I had to do the same search for rod ends for my Losi Comp Crawler, only pair on eBay was in Australia, so I ordered a set of Night Crawler plastic links from Horizon about 2am Monday morning. Probably cost about the same is not a bit less then had them by Tuesday afternoon and installed them tonight.

How much shorter are the stock arms vs Slash 2WD arms?

I don’t remember, but the 2wd Slash arms are just Nitro Sport/Rustler/Stampede rear arms bolted to a 272 Magnum transmission. The Telluride/Rally arms are between the Bandit and 2wd Slash and Nitro rear arms in length, IIRC, but it’s been a long time since I’ve held either.

Thanks for the reply. I think I will try the Slash arms 1st . I don't mind it being a little wider than stock. If I find that it's too wide, I will get the Telly arms. I'm not looking to make a scale truck, just a truck that's fun to drive.

No problem, post up what you end up doing.......plus if youíre going to go with the longer arms, try some of the Axial G6 legal bodies like the Deadbolt and Wrangler and maybe the Hoss chassis

Using the Hoss chassis is a great idea! I never thought of that. I will definitely start a build thread.

NP once again, those bodies are for a 12” wheelbase and the Hoss is 11.62”, so it would be close and the wider width of the Slash arms combined with the pinch those bodies have might allow for the taller 2.2” wheels and tires and give it a rock buggy look. Come to think of it, it could give a bit of a rock racer look too.

I've always liked the Deadbolt body. It would definitely be something different that's for sure.

Pretty sure PLs got a 10.8"(?) FJ Cruiser body. Never mind, they discontinued it.

It looks better with the stock tires. These are larger and rub more.

Thanks for taking the time to take pictures. This body looks good On it. The wheelbase seems a tad short, but it's doable. Are the wheels RPM wide 2.2s? I will add this body to my list of potentials. I'm probably going to use Slash 2WD rear arms which actually increase the wheelbase a tiny bit. How much, I don't know. I will measure once I get all together.

How well does the truck crawl with those tires on it?

You're welcome. The wheels are 1.9 RC4WD. It crawls very well with these tires and also I have spools in the front and rear diffs. I swapped the arms for the Bandit arms to narrow the width. To get rid of the the rear toe in use the slash 4x4 aluminum axle carrier (1952X) and use the left on the right and right on the left.

These might interest you. I have a set and they are soft and sticky. Short course tires so you don't have to worry about actual crawler wheels.
